• The Gathering • [#tstStories]
Last weekend I received an invite for an event called The Gathering.
Place to be: #Burlington.
It’s a bit remote but the drive there is stunning. Just make sure you gas up before leaving the trans Canadian Highway direction North.
Once there I went looking for Barbara, Ole, Adrian and Birgit. They actually invited me over.
So happy they did. :-)
It was truly a beautiful weekend.
The first evening we spent on The Gathering grounds where people were lining up for an evening of delicious food and beautiful music.
Top chefs from Canada got together and cooked up their best to serve all the people at the grounds.
While people were lining up they were entertained by top performers in comedy and music.
The backdrop was a stunning view over the Burlington Bay.
It’s only the second edition of this event and this festival is going places for sure. People just rave about it.
The main man behind it all is Shaun Majumder, a famous Canadian comedian.
The festival is there to support the local community and to put Burlington, which is his lovely home town, on the tourist map.
It’s very clear that he puts in his heart and soul and that shows by the loads of support he gets from friends and the local community.
An inspiring guy.
From The Gathering grounds we moved to the camping grounds where we spent the night around the campfire.
I even got a guitar lesson from Adam Baxter, one of the artists at the event. (@adambaxtermusic)
He guided me through the song ‘Country road’ while everybody around the campfire was watching.
Can’t say I didn’t feel a bit of pressure there but everybody was very supportive :-)
A big thx to Chris Tuck for introducing me to him.
After that I ended up talking for hours with Tracy and her husband from ‘@Sealedwithakiss’. What a beautiful and creative couple. Together for 20 years already and still radiating as if they just met.
They sent me off to my van with a delicious partridge berry pie.
His favorite. :-)
